2006 Pinot Gris

 

The vineyard

The grapes for this vintage came from Chemeketa Community College (2.53 tons) and Red Hawk vineyards (5.37 tons) in Salem.

 

 

Wine making

Chemekata grapes were harvested 10/10/08 at  22.6 Brix, PH 3.32, TA 6.0. Red Hawk Grapes were harvest 10/10/08 at 22.4 brix, PH 3.28, TA 6.13. All juice fermented in Stainless Steel and NO malolactic Fermentation. All of the lab trials and most of the actual performance of wine making duties were performed by Kim Kramer-Krieger, the daughter of Keith and Trudy Kramer of Kramer Vineyards.

Only 195 cases of wine were produced and available for sale at the tasting room.

 

The wine

This wine has a Silky mid palate with hints of Apple at the start and migrating to Pear.

 

Food

 This vintage goes well with Spicy foods like:Thai Food, Mexican food, Jalapeno, Buffalo wings, chicken and shrimp.   It also goes really well with the spice Mace and apples in a crumbed deep dish apple pie.
