2009 Muller-Thurgau

The vineyard:

The grapes for this vintage came from the Yamhill AVA, specifically from Kramer Vineyards.

Wine making

We used whole cluster pressing which we believe provides a more full bodied and enhances the wines aromas. 100 cases of wine were produced and available for sale at the tasting room.

The Grape:

Developed in 1882 by Dr. Hermann Muller, born in the Swiss canton of Thurgau, while working at the German viticulture station at Geisenheim. DNA testing suggests that the variety is actually the result of a Riesling x Chasselas de Courtillier cross, not Riesling and Silvaner

The Wine

Characteristics include Intensely floral aromatics with hints of:

 Pears, Apple,and Pineapple.

The wine has a sweet, thick mid-palate and a tart finish.

Food

This wine is an excellent aperitif, suitable for first courses or baked Turkey and peach cobbler.
